Double Curtain Rods

Nothing rounds out a room like an elegant set of double curtain rods. Everybody has single curtain rods, but why be like everyone else? Doubles add texture as well as dimension to any window in your home by creating a sort of layered window treatment. Also, they’re great for anyone who has blinds that are on the outside of Windows and needs to add a valence and drapes to the window.

Most double bracket designs usually feature two adjustable rods as well as decorative scrolled brackets of some sort. They are usually fairly easy to install once you get the hang of them. The great thing about them is that they let you decorate in many different ways by hanging two different curtains in front of one main window.

General Makeup In most cases your double curtain rod will have two rods that are attached to usually the same bracket that mounts the piece with anywhere from one to two inches of space between them.

Installing Double Curtain Rods Like I said, installing these things can be fairly easy if you get the hang of it. Here are some tips that should help you out. Usually it’s not going to take you anymore than fifteen minutes or so, sometimes twenty to twenty five minutes depending on the quality of your hardware, and your experience level. As long as you take precise measurements, and drill were you’re supposed to… it really shouldn’t be much of a big deal or take very much time or energy.

The first thing you want to do is measure the exact place that you want your brackets to go. When you measure, make a mark at the exact spot. This is going to be one to two inches outside of your windows frame and usually four inches or so higher. Mark them by holding the brackets on the spot where you measured and take a pencil and put a little x or a check mark where the screws will go.

Now just drill some holes were you put the marks (try and aim for a stud if possible, but if there aren’t any where you are, use drywall screw holders to put your screws in so that they won’t fall out). Next just screw the brackets into the holes that you just drilled.

You’re almost always going to want to install the rod closest to the wall first because if you do it the other way it’s going to be hard to get your fingers in there. Put the curtain on to the rod before you install the od onto the wall bracket. And you’re also going to want to place a level on top of the rod to make sure that your rod isn’t crooked. The worst thing in the world is getting these things installed and stepping back and noticing that they are slanted and having to start all over again!

Now just do the same thing for the second curtain rod. Follow the same exact steps that you did for the first curtain rod. You may want to skip the level the second time, but I don’t recommend it! Be sure to check to see if it is level just in case!
